Visioning Day 2009
Letter to the members of the Armidale Uniting Church community re Visioning Day
“...now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; but they were kept from recognizing him. He asked them, "What are you discussing together as you walk along?" They stood still, their faces downcast. One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, "Are you only a visitor to Jerusalem and do not know the things that have happened there in these days?" "What things?" he asked. "About Jesus of Nazareth," they replied.”
Like on the road to Emmaus we as a community of faith need to review where we have come from and where we are moving to in the future. The Joint Chairpersons and Minister invite you to participate in the lead-up to, and the Visioning Day, scheduled for Sunday 23rd August 2009, 9.00 a.m.
Over the course of the next three Sundays, we will be asking to provide input into the future development of the Church by providing feedback to the following four questions. At the 8.00 and 9.30 am services and Sundays@7 on each of the next three Sundays, those present will be asked to provide feedback to the following questions. You will be asked to chat to the person sitting near you and to write on a piece of paper your response. These responses will be returned with the offering.
Responses will be viewed by the Joint Chairpersons and Minister only.
Sunday 2nd August
1. What are the strengths of the Armidale Congregation as a community of faith?
2. What are the highlights of the life of this congregation over the last 5 years?
Sunday 9th August
3. How can we build on our strengths, for the next 5 years, in the way of Christ?
Sunday 16th August
4. What challenges face us as we continue this journey of faith and hope in God?
If you are unable to attend these Services you still have the opportunity to participate. A ballot box will be provided in the Church Foyer so that you may submit a written response or you may chose to send an email response to either: anita@armidaleunitingchurch.org.au or churchcouncil@armidaleunitingchurch.org.au.
The feedback generated from the above will be filtered into the Visioning Day process.
The actual Visioning Day will be held on Sunday 23rd August. The 8.00 a.m. and 9.30 am services will be combined and will commence at 9.00 a.m. Following the conclusion of the service there will be morning tea and then the Visioning Day process will begin. The process will run for the remainder of the morning and will conclude with a lunch. The Visioning Day will be facilitated by the Joint Chairpersons and the Minister.
